Welcome to Oak Place Court

Welcome to Oak Place Court - my little web space on the internet dedicated to my love for horticulture! I named my website Oak Place Court because I grew up on Oak Street in my hometown of Bakersfield, California. Surrounded by beautiful Oak trees on an updated farm house, I lived to play outdoors as a kid. Both of my parents were avid gardeners (you should see the size of the tomatoes they produced!) so me and my siblings took after their green thumbs!

I am by no means an expert gardener; just a woman who loves to spend time outside digging in the dirt. My real job is an executive secretary for a bank. (Been there 23 years and counting!) I do however try and pass my love of all things plant and gardening related to my two daughters, but they would rather paint their nails then get dirt under them. (LOL hi Casey and Carrie!) I am proud to say that our family does an excellent job at maintaining the family compost pile. We're big on conservation and preserving the earth as best as we can for future generations.

My husband, Jeff, enjoys gardening with me in his spare time. Jeff is a software engineer and works incredibly hard. He travels often, so sadly, we don't get to spend as much time in the yard as much as we would like. But when Jeff is home, we love picking the produce and flowers that are ready, weeding out our garden beds and simply enjoying what we have created. (Not to sound like a hippie, but there's something incredibly soothing about walking through the grass in your bare feet and smelling the flowers!)
